Una perla preziosa
C'è una leggenda che tutti i viaggiatori delle isole greche conoscono, si chiama Laguna di Balos. Ci si arriva in barca o come ho fatto io, percorrendo una strada sterrata che attraversa tutto il promontorio, abitato solo da capre. Ne vale la pena perchè gli scorci di roccia e mare sono impressionanti.
There is a legend that all travelers of the Greek islands know about, it is called Balos Lagoon. You can get there by boat or as I did, along a dirt road that crosses the whole promontory, inhabited only by goats. It is worth it because the views of the rock and the sea are impressive.
Oggi il cielo disegna il paesaggio con strisce di nuvole, da una parte il mare, dall'altra le rocce si contengono lo sguardo e l'auto traballa nelle buche che non vedo. Sola, su questa striscia di terra deserta verso il paradiso sono ubriaca di libertà.
Today the sky draws the landscape with strips of clouds, on one side the sea, on the other the rocks compete for the gaze and the car wobbles in the holes that I do not see. Alone, on this deserted strip of land towards heaven, I am drunk with freedom.
Una capra assiste al mio passaggio con una certa curiosità, quando mi arrampico sulle rocce per fare una foto, me la ritrovo davanti, non so chi sia di noi due più curiosa dell'altra.
A goat watches my passage with a certain curiosity, when I climb the rocks to take a picture, I found it in front of me, I don't know which of us is more curious of the other.
Sono arrivata alla fine della strada dove lascio l'auto, un'ultima occhiata ai segnali del cielo e inizio la discesa.
I arrive at the end of the road where I leave the car, one last look at the signs of the sky and I start the descent.
La vista di Balos appare all'improvviso ed è la più inaspettata; posso dire dopo anni che viaggio nell'isola di Creta, che è la più incantevole visione mai vista prima.
The sight of Balos appears suddenly and is the most unexpected, I can say after years that I travel around the island of Crete, that is the most enchanting sight ever seen.
